Dr. Darrell T. Liu
- Received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1961 (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Did post-graduate training in protein biochemistry at the Rockefeller University from 1961 to 1965 under Nobel Laureate Professors Stanford Moore and William H. Stein (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Taught at Rockefeller University from 1965 to 1967 as Assistant Professor of Biochemistry (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Worked as a Senior Biochemist at Brookhaven National Laboratory from 1967 to 1973 (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Worked at NIH National Institute of Child Health and Human Development as the Section Head of Biochemistry from 1973 to 1974 (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Joined the FDA in 1974 as Deputy Director, Division of Bacterial Products in what is now called CBER (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Has published more than 120 papers and co-edited six books (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Also served as an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Catholic University of America since 1978 and has been a visiting professor at numerous universities abroad (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Received the FDA Commissioner's Citation and Cash Award in 1981, 1985, and 1987 (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992).
- Became the Director, Division of Biochemistry and Biophysics in 1992 while also serving as the Active Chief of the Lab of Biochemistry. Was previously the Director, Division of Allergenic Products & Parasitology, and the Deputy Director, Division of Bacterial Products (The Food and Drug Law Institute 1992; ; NIH Office of History & Stetten Museum 1980).
