The In Depth History section aims to tell stories which don't fall into more specific Exhibits, Collections, Oral and Collected Histories, Publications, Photography Collections, Reference Sources, Timelines, Trade Catalogs, Manuals or you can Search Our CollectionsIn-depth histories take a closer look at topics.  They are different from exhibits in that they aren’t object-based.  Some in-depth histories are heavily illustrated articles and some are websites with rich materials available to the visitor.  Follow your curiosity and learn why Dr. Joseph Goldberger injected himself with potentially lethal samples, or the social as well as scientific beginnings of the pregnancy test.  Who were the first women to work at NIH and what was it like to deal with a totally new and fatal disease called AIDS?  These are only some of the topics you can get an in-depth look at on this page..
