NIH Calendar of Events

On Friday, September 28, 1951, the National Institutes of Health sent a printed note announcing it would began issuing a weekly calendar of events occurring at the NIH. The NIH Calendar of Events became known as "the yellow sheet" because the first issue was printed on an 8"x14'' sheet of yellow paper. In fact, some NIHers today still call the electronic paperless version the yellow sheet found at NIH Calendar of Events. A notice was sent with the first calendar requesting the issues to be distributed in the same manner as the NIH Record and to pass copies on promptly to all personnel in each group.
